Introduction
The HCW Foundation organized a Drug Awareness Program Seminar at GD Goenka Public School aimed at educating students of classes 9th to 11th about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of making informed, healthy choices. The seminar was designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge about the adverse effects of drugs, ways to resist peer pressure, and how to seek help if needed.


Objectives:

  1. Increase Awareness: Educate students about various types of drugs and their harmful effects.
  2. Prevent Drug Abuse: Equip students with strategies to avoid drug use.
  3. Support System: Inform students about the available support systems and resources for those who need help.


Key Activities:

  1. Opening Remarks:
    The seminar began with a warm welcome from the Mrs. Priya Chauhan (Principal of GD Goenka Public School), who emphasized the importance of drug awareness and the school’s commitment to student well-being.
  2. Interactive Presentation:
    Representatives from the HCW Foundation delivered an engaging presentation that covered:
  • Types of commonly abused drugs.
  • Short-term and long-term effects of drug use on health.
  • Psychological and social consequences of drug abuse.
  • Real-life stories and testimonials from individuals who have struggled with addiction

3. Discussion on Peer Pressure:

  • A significant portion of the seminar was dedicated to understanding peer pressure and its role in drug
    use among teenagers. Strategies for resisting peer pressure were discussed, encouraging students to
    make independent and informed decisions.
